Erm
Surely something about the draconian drug laws that can lead to a jail sentence even if you have a small speck of cannabis on your shoe or have eaten a poppyseed bagel are worth pointing out here. 128.227.179.138 09:32, 29 February 2008 (EST)
A while back, I added a fairly detailed description of several cases where travelers were imprisoned for those kinds of "crimes" and how human rights groups have tried to intervene and warn travelers who plan to fly into Dubai, but someone deleted what I wrote almost immediately. —The preceding comment was added by 65.81.165.32 (talkcontribs) 08:46, 2008 July 30.
Hi, welcoome to Wikitravel, both of you! I've never been to Dubai, so I'm glad to see people with specific knowledge thinking about contributing it. It's certainly fine to add information about drug enforcement. My suggestion is to make sure that it's factual not advocacy, and informative not sloppy. Some people put in out-of-place strangeness like this, which most experienced WT editors would revert right away. Offhand, "a small speck of cannabis on your shoe or have eaten a poppyseed bagel" sounds a bit anecdotal, and "human rights groups have tried to intervene" sounds like advocacy. So take some care to craft something useful and good. I look forward to seeing your contributions! JimDeLaHunt 00:57, 31 July 2008 (EDT)
